Palm Aire

I found the Palm Aire Motel on the last day of a trip I made to Florida in February. The urge to photograph the vintage sign was simple and irresistible. The photo is my homage to so many of the things I love: warm air, palm trees, motels, old postcards, the photographic tradition of driving and discovery.
Each morning, I wake up to the blue sky and cheerful tawdriness of Palm Aire Motel on the wall in my apartment in New York. It is a reminder of the past and the future - of trips taken and trips to be made.
