Jen Bekman Projects is looking for interns to assist with general administrative tasks and archiving for 20x200. Who We Are
JBP's mission is "art for everyone." We're an NYC-based company that uses the power of the Internet to bring the value and joy of collecting art to a wider audience than has ever been possible. JBP consists of three programs: 20x200 is an innovative website that offers curated, limited-edition prints at "ridiculously affordable prices." Hey, Hot Shot! is a critically-acclaimed international photography competition which discovers, recognizes and promotes photographers at all stages of their careers. Jen Bekman Gallery, the flagship of JBP, exhibits photography, works on paper, paintings and mixed media.

Requirements

**NOTE: We are looking for someone who is able to start immediately and is able to make a 6-month commitment.**

Interns work a minimum of 2 days a week. We do not offer weekend-only internships - you must be available at least one weekday per week. This is an unpaid position, but we'll a) buy you lunch and b) pay your subway fare to and fro. We're also happy to do any paperwork that needs doing if you're doing a for-credit internship.

We work from 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday. Public gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from Noon-6pm, but those hours represent only a small fraction of our various projects and programs: The gallery is occasionally open on Sundays, we frequently have evening events or receptions, and we schedule installations and many administrative tasks off hours. Not everything takes place in the gallery proper (Have you seen it? It's tiny!) You don't have to be sitting in the gallery to blog, for example, and we also have an office, aka 20x200 headquarters, just around the corner.

Ideal Intern Characteristics:
* Organized, preferably obsessively so.
* A background, or at the very least a keen interest in fine art, photography + design.
* Intelligence, enthusiasm, a sense of humor.
* Reliability.
* Professionalism: You have manners in person and on the phone, and can take a proper message.
* A way with words. Grammar, spelling, style - we want it all! We're always on deadline for something or other: blog posts, newsletters, press releases... the list goes on and on.
* Internet savvy. Flickr is your friend. You're no stranger to Facebook, you read way too many blogs, and maybe you even have one of your own. Blog (WordPress) and HTML skills are a major plus, and if you don't have the skills, you should want to learn them.
* Handy? Know your way around a hammer, a level, a cordless drill? How about a paintbrush? We love you.

Sound good? Send an email to internship AT jenbekman DOT com. It's really super extra important that you follow the guidelines below, and include your cover in the body of the email:

- Tell us what you're looking for in an internship, and what you find particularly appealing and/or interesting about Jen Bekman Projects.

- Use the subject line: ["Last Name, First Name" Internship Inquiry] and email to internship@20x200.com

- Let us know when you can start and which days/times you'd be available. (Make sure this works with our hours as described above.)

- Include your resume. (That can be an attachment, but remember, your cover letter goes in the body of the email.)

Please don't be terribly formal. That's boring.

And yes, we're picky - boilerplate covers go straight to the circular file. Be original! Also, like we said above, the guidelines are important - be sure to follow them.
