JBP currently comprises three programs: <a href="http://www.20x200.com/">20x200</a>,  the innovative and critically acclaimed website, which offers limited-edition prints at ridiculously affordable prices; <a href="http://www.jenbekman.com/">Jen Bekman Gallery</a>, which opened on the Lower East Side in 2003 and exhibits the work of emerging and established artists in the mediums of photography, painting, drawing and mixed media; and <a href="http://www.heyhotshot.com/">Hey, Hot Shot!</a>, an international photography competition that discovers, recognizes and promotes photographers at all stages of their careers. As a core contributor, the design intern will work with a tight-knit design team to create brand-friendly design solutions, extend innovative user experiences, and support the design and production needs of the curatorial and marketing teams. We&apos;d love it if you had some experience in an office environment, but what&apos;s most important to us is that you&apos;re smart, polished, motivated and as excited about art as we are.

Based in NYC, we use the power of the Internet to bring the value and joy of collecting art to a wider audience than has ever been possible. JBP consists of three programs: 20x200 is an innovative website that offers curated, limited-edition prints at affordable prices. Hey, Hot Shot! is a critically-acclaimed international photography competition that discovers, recognizes and promotes photographers at all stages of their careers. Jen Bekman Gallery, the flagship of JBP, exhibits photography, works on paper, paintings and mixed media.
 
<strong>The Internship</strong>
<ul><li>Deliver high-quality design and production under tight deadlines.
<li>Create designs that account for web standards, cross-browser solutions, and industry best practices.</ul>

<strong>The Person We’re Looking For</strong>
<ul><li>Has a Bachelor's degree, is working towards a degree, or has equivalent experience in graphic design or a related discipline.
<li>Is reliable. You stick to your commitments and are dedicated to making it work.
<li>Has strong organizational skills and is flexible enough to roll with changing priorities. 
<li>Enjoys brainstorming and collaboration. 
<li>Is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), has design knowledge of HTML and CSS. 
<li>Has a strong understanding of grid systems, composition and color, with a keen eye for typography and meticulous attention to detail.</ul>

<strong>Hours</strong>
Interns must work a minimum of two days.  We're at the 20x200 office from 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but we often have after-hours events that you may be required to attend. This is an unpaid position, but we'll supply you with a monthly unlimited MetroCard for each month of your internship. We're also happy to do any necessary paperwork if you're doing a for-credit internship.

You'll be an integral part of our team, making lasting contributions to Jen Bekman Projects while honing your particular interests and skills.  We'd love it if you had some experience in an office and/or gallery environment, but what's most important to us is that you're smart, polished, motivated and as excited about art as we are.

We currently have openings in the following areas: 
<ul><li><strong>20x200 Production</strong> - Provide operational support for print and web production, social media and fulfillment. 
<li><strong>Research + Curatorial</strong> -  Support the research needs of the curatorial team, create artist dossiers for upcoming 20x200 editions, maintain and update artist wiki
<li><strong>Jen Bekman Gallery</strong> - Working directly with our gallery director on press releases, blogging, site maintenance and most importantly, handling and installing art.</ul>

At JBP we all wear a lot of hats, so if you are interested in a general art/business internship, we'd welcome your diverse set of skills and interests. Please know, as well, that we're a small, start-up staff and everyone tackles tasks that are often above but sometimes below our respective skill sets, and you will be expected to do the same. <strong>Availability</strong>

Interns must work a minimum of two days. Gallery interns must be available on the weekend as well, and we do not offer weekend-only internships. Dual 20x200/Jen Bekman Gallery internships are not available. This is an unpaid position, but we'll supply you with a monthly unlimited MetroCard for each month of your internship. We're also happy to do any necessary paperwork if you're doing a for-credit internship.

<strong>Hours</strong>

<strong>Ideal Characteristics</strong>

<li>A background, or at the very least a keen interest in fine art, photography + design. 
<li>Intelligent and enthusiastic.  You possess a sense of humor.
<li>Reliable. You stick to your commitments and are dedicated to making it work. 
<li>Motivated: You’re ready to take charge and find the resources you need to get the job done. 
<li>A way with words. Grammar, spelling, style&mdash;we want it all! 
<li>Internet savvy. Flickr is your friend. You're no stranger to Facebook, you read way too many blogs, and maybe you even have one of your own.
<li>Handy? Know your way around a hammer, a level, a cordless drill? How about a paintbrush? We love you.</ul>
