Jen Bekman Projects | 20x200 is seeking an online marketing virtuoso to help us build our conversion marketing platform. Our customers are art collectors and we want even more people to live with art.
We're looking for someone who has experience building successful e-commerce businesses, lives and breathes the web and digital marketing and knows how social media can positively impact an entire brand. Strong organizational and analytical skills, expertise in site conversion, SEM, SEO, social media marketing and email marketing are required. The ideal candidate can juggle multiple priorities and go with the flow, is creative yet disciplined, and a self-starter with the utmost integrity. He or she thrives in a creative, fast-paced, start-up environment and has most recently been a Director or Vice President at a performance-focused e-commerce company. He or she believes in the enormous potential of "Art for Everyone."
The VP of Online Marketing will report to the President. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to build and shape marketing for a rapidly growing e-commerce fine art business.

JBP consists of three programs: 20x200 is an innovative website that offers curated, limited-edition prints at "ridiculously affordable prices." Hey, Hot Shot! is a critically-acclaimed international photography competition which discovers, recognizes and promotes photographers at all stages of their careers. Jen Bekman Gallery, the flagship of JBP, exhibits photography, works on paper, paintings and mixed media.
The Job
- Ensure visitor, subscriber, customer and sales targets are achieved while keeping cost per acquisition metrics within goals. Relentless focus on e-commerce metrics and lifetime value analysis.
- Manage the acquisition program: developing offers to convert newsletter subscribers into customers and developing strategies for newsletter growth.
- Identify and direct search and creative agencies as needed to meet business performance objectives.
- Lead and build a marketing team.
- Supervise SEM and SEO; maximize ROI across campaigns with Google, MSN, Yahoo and other search engines as well as Facebook; drive tactics to improve page rankings of site; natural traffic growth.
- Oversee acquisition programs for newsletter(s) across various marketing channels with voracious attention to conversion metrics.
- Lead efforts to improve conversion funnel by developing testing programs to optimize conversion of all key site-landing environments. This conversion will also require delivering a site/online experience that is significant enough to drive such conversion.
- Help to identify, prospect and negotiate media buys and strategic relationships with portals, advertising networks, online agencies, email-marketing providers, publishers and other contextually relevant websites and newsletter publishers to maximize profitable distribution relationships.
- Implement campaigns and promotions via social media channels to create awareness and drive customer acquisition.
- Lead development and implementation of leading strategies for online programs, including personalization, segmentation, special interest landing pages and other appropriate venues.
- Track and measure online advertising programs; creating test strategies to optimize results. Leverage internal and external analytics to source areas of growth opportunities, manage partners and test new campaigns.
- Ensure effective creative development and execution to support programs and media efforts.
- Collaborate with business development and engineering to ensure that marketing activities drive the greatest return on investment.
The Person We're Looking For
- Has experience rapidly scaling an e-commerce business and extensive P&L responsibility.
- Has 10+ years experience in marketing, online media buying and e-commerce metrics. Experience with SEM, SEO and online media is a MUST, with emphasis on performance-based marketing.
- Has recently had full P&L responsibility for leadership responsibility for online direct response marketing channels including display advertising, paid search, and email.
- Has a strong strategic marketing and analytics background and the ability to translate market and customer insights into smart, strategic and executable plans.
- Is a creative marketer and entrepreneurial thinker who can help drive the business.
- Can come up with creative solutions to challenges with a willingness to test multiple solutions for the best result.
- Has a keen analytical mind and strives to really understand what is working, and why.
- Is focused on large opportunities - channels that will be tremendously scalable if they work.
- Has a proven track record developing successful marketing programs across a variety of channels and media.
- Has a deep Rolodex of relationships with major portals, ad networks, agencies and other publishers and explicit understanding of how to achieve successful campaigns.
- Has excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Is detailed oriented and organized.
- Possesses a Bachelors Degree or MBA in Marketing, Advertising or Business Management, or equivalent experience.
