Jen Bekman Projects | Project Manager
Jen Bekman Projects is looking for an art-loving Project Manager to oversee large-scale interactive projects from the planning stages through to development and implementation. Extensive experience with online projects is essential.
The candidate should be an energetic, detail-oriented problem solver who can take initiative on, manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects. As the key point of contact between editorial, design, curatorial and technical sides of the project team, he or she must have stellar communication skills and be able to help keep individual team members on-point and on-time. This person will play a major role in the success of growing the company so he or she should like getting things done and know how to go about it. Like the rest of the JBP team, the candidate should love art, photography and technology and eat/sleep/breath the Internet and social media.
This is a full-time role that begins immediately.

JBP consists of three programs: 20x200 is an innovative website that offers curated, limited-edition prints at "ridiculously affordable prices." Hey, Hot Shot! is a critically-acclaimed international photography competition which discovers, recognizes and promotes photographers at all stages of their careers. Jen Bekman Gallery, the flagship of JBP, exhibits photography, works on paper, paintings and mixed media.
The Job
- Develop our overall project-management strategy, working with editorial, curatorial, design and technical teams to execute and achieve project goals.
- Monitor the day-to-day activities of the project team and ensure deadlines are met.
- Document large-scale projects from planning to development to launch.
- Manage schedules, budgets, and the overall project organization with an awareness of concurrent deadlines and strategic release dates among Jen Bekman Gallery, 20x200 and Hey, Hot Shot!.
- Ensure all team members understand and execute project requirements and deliverables.
- Effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize all deliverables and resources working across projects, based on scope of work and project goals.
- Recognize and proactively solve potential problems.
- Consistently manage project expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality product and solicit feedback from individual team members.
- Communicate project status and strategic recommendations to team members on a regular basis.
- Work with project team leads to present work. Participate in new business presentation opportunities.
The Person We're Looking For
- Has a bachelors degree and at least 5 years of experience in interactive project management, preferably in a creative setting.
- Can present a successful record of projects worked on with a 6 month+ timeline.
- Has a demonstrated ability to motivate, support and understand team members and knows how to help them prioritize and organize workloads.
- Has a deep understanding and awareness of product development and experience tying product goals to business goals.
- Possesses a solid understanding of the lifecycle for web initiatives.
- Has experience with the development of large-scale websites and a strong understanding of associated web development technologies and third party applications and platforms.
- Is a well-rounded generalist with a basic understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, backend programming languages and other standard Internet-related technologies.
- Is competent in MS Office, MS Project, bug tracking, wiki and other related project management and common communications tools.
- Is fluent in social media and extremely web savvy: Tumblr, Flickr and Twitter are dear friends and Facebook is no stranger.
- Works well in a high-activity/fast-paced environment.
- Can juggle many different deadline-driven projects simultaneously.
- Pays manic attention to detail.
- Has an eye for fantastic design.
