Wednesday Edition: Paul Octavious + Refer A Friend

Kite Hill by Paul Octavious
8"x10" ($20) | 11"x14" ($50) | 16"x20" ($200) | 30"x40" ($2000)

Wednesday greetings collector friends! I'm running, running, running this morning! After I dash off this note to you, I'm heading back to TechCrunch Disrupt where I spent the better part of yesterday. That I am constantly tottering between the art and tech worlds is evidenced by this week's agenda: TechCrunch and tomorrow night's panel with Girls in Tech are sandwiched by Whitney Biennial-related events with JBG-artist Nina Berman (you're invited, too!). The back and forth between these alternate realities is enough to make a girl break into sweat. As if the sweltering heat that's settling over my fine city wasn't enough.

I'm super pleased to be dipping into the arty side of my life to bring you today's edition and introduce our pilot Refer A Friend program—a special thanks and a sweetheart deal for you loyal collectors. We know you know that living with art is good for you, and that it's good for your friends, too. And we've been trying to figure out the best way to say thanks for sharing the 20x200 love for some time now. So why not reward the good habits you've been honing? Share great art and get a $10 credit for 20x200 prints. Now through Monday, when you tell your friends about 20x200, we'll give you a $10 credit for every one who becomes a collector after they've completed their first purchase. Don't delay and act quickly before Monday to take advantage of all this feel-goodness today!

Also full of warm and fuzzies is today's edition from Chicago-based designer and photographer Paul Octavious: Kite Hill. Setting sight on this photograph sends my little heart a-soaring. I first came across Paul's work through the journal UPPERCASE. A quick trip to his website and I was immediately smitten with SO much of his work and determined to bring the Same Hill, Different Day project to all of you! The series is akin to Christian Chaize's Praia Piquinia—portraits of a place as it's affected by time, light and the people that frequent it. Christian's eye-candy-licious c-prints feature the umbrellas and towels and changing tides of a particular beach in Portugal. In the case of Kite Hill, it's a gaggle of kite-flyers and onlookers that dapple a mound of green grass somewhere in the Windy City.

Paul's captured this hill over the course of a couple years, covering all the seasons. We just might have something else from this series lined up for the colder months but only time will tell. For now, I hope you'll find that Kite Hill is an omen for a Memorial Day weekend full of sun and fun, wherever you may be—beach-bound or land-locked—and I'll see you rejuvenated and refreshed next Tuesday!
