Greetings from San Francisco, my friends! As you're probably aware, I'm out in SF through April 7th. The Web 2.0 Expo is what brought me out here, creating the perfect opportunity to plan a 20x200 event. (And about a million other things as well.)
I'm including details about other goings on below, but first and foremost: We'd love to see you at next week's 20x200 Collectors Confab! Almost everyone from Team 20x200 will be in town, and we've already confirmed that lots of our artists will be in attendance as well — won't you come too?
It's being hosted at a great venue — Chronicle Books' gorgeous store, located in the lobby of their South of Market headquarters. (Big thanks to CB CEO Nion McEvoy for generously providing the space.)
In honor of the event, we've planned several editions with artists affiliated with CB. We have a hunch that our upcoming editions from Stuart Klipper's The Antarctic: From the Circle to the Pole and Mark Richard's Core Memory are going to be enormously popular.
We'll announce the first set tomorrow, and then follow up with a special pair of bonus editions on Monday, the day of the Confab — get yourself on the mailing list if you want to receive early word on their availability, then keep your eyes on your Inbox.
All the details on the other events follow: tomorrow night's IgniteSF event and Friday's Corralling the Crowdsourced Community. Hope to see you at one of these happenings, or even all three.
Ignite is a fun event, and my fellow panelists @ Web 2.0 are an impressive lot. So mark your calendars for these events, and try to make it if you can!
IgniteSF @ Web 2.0
IgniteSF | Wednesday, April 1st
Who: Jen Bekman + 15 other presenters
What: 5 minute presentations
When: Wednesday April 1st | 7:30 p.m. - Midnight (I go on very late.)
Where: Mezzanine | 444 Jessie Street @ Mint
Why: Because all presentations are more entertaining when you've got a few drinks in you.
If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world, geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers. Join us for another Ignite San Francisco, the official kick-off event for Web 2.0 Expo.
My talk will be a reprise of my IgniteNYC presentation: Overcrowded: How crowdsourcing is ruining everything. If you missed it there, now's your chance! (And on the off chance you did see it, now's your chance to see it better.)
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with priority access given to Web 2.0 Expo Conference Pass and Expo Plus Pass attendees. At 8:15 p.m., pending venue capacity, access will be made available to Expo Only Pass Attendees & the general public.
