Just Let It Go

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am fascinated with photography’s inherent ability to play with space and time.

A common theme that arises in my work is the notion of absence vs. presence. Just Let It Go is part of the text-based Melting Words series that documents phrases made from ice as they slowly disappear.

The sentences play off of stereotypical language exchanged between lovers and investigate longing and apprehension. These utterances, extracted and reconstructed out of icy letters, hang in front of the viewer with a calculated coldness.
