ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings are intuitive, image-based poetry, greatly conceptually void for the purpose of creativity. All color, shape and object placement is a direct reactionary build-up that gives a shallow depth. I find this depth absolutely intriguing, as it is a false depth with flat shapes, sort of like individual pieces of paper lying upon one bigger piece of paper. Collage without physicality. Space without real depth. Disorder built out of regulation.

I am not trying to give false pretenses; these paintings are “as is.” This idea reflects life, in my opinion, where nothing is truly representational and everything is obtainable. I am intrigued by inconsistency, irrationality and the future. Not knowing a painting’s ending is very important, as it allows an ambiguous interpretation. My paintings are stories with no actual beginning or end, just fragments of life, readable from any angle. I want them to appear random and rhythmic at the same time, as well as represent a feeling of the infinite and void. People make up their own stories for all aspects of life. Here, I give them an unorganized plot.

A note about the size of our prints:

Our quoted dimensions are for the size of paper the image is printed on. All of our prints have a minimum border of .5 inches.

Since the original painting that this edition is based on is long and narrow, it will have more generous borders at the top and bottom. We do not alter the aspect ratio, nor do we crop or resize the artists’ originals.
