Industrial Part 2

ARTIST STATEMENT

This image is from my exhibition at the Designersblock:Illustrate festival in London, a one-off illustration event that occupied over 50,000 square feet of new commercial space on Hornsey Street. Illustrators and designers displayed work on external hoardings and inside newly built units made with concrete floors and cinder block walls. To reflect the industrial nature of the venue, I created a number of color pencil drawings of electrical and industrial paraphernalia found within the venue space, nearby underground stations and surrounding area. The resulting drawings of switches, wires, sockets, pipes and electrical boxes were then arranged to create a sprawling, industrial mural. In total, I created over 60 drawings for the event, covering 200 square feet.
