ARTIST STATEMENT

Kate Bingaman-Burt makes her painfully mundane purchases irresistible, or at least gives us something to make us feel less self-conscious about how frequently we spend to fill the void.

She is Obsessive Consumption.

Obsessive Consumption started in 2002, when Kate decided to photograph all of her purchases and, in turn, create a brand out of the process to package and promote.

Kate’s photographs of the detritus of consumerism caught the attention of the Hey, Hot Shot! panel in 2006. Her work was selected for the HHS! Summer 2006 Edition and then, a few months later, she was one of four photographers to show in Ne Plus Ultra, The 2006 Hey, Hot Shot Annual. Her NYC solo debut exhibition Obsessive Consumption, featuring drawings, paintings and installations, was on view at the Jen Bekman Gallery in October 2007.

How to Frame Your Art

All of our prints have a minimum border of .25 inches to allow for framing. We do not alter the aspect ratio, crop or resize the artists' originals—quoted dimensions are for the size of paper containing the image, not the printed image itself. For exact image sizes and more helpful info, view our framing guides:
