Sarah Spitler was born and raised in Ohio, where she studied at the Columbus College of Art + Design before moving to San Francisco and finishing her BFA in painting at the California College of the Arts in 2006. She currently lives and works in San Francisco.

While studying at CCA, she developed in interest in geography and the visual forms present in macro- and micro-scale in nature and the cosmos. In her work, she combines these forms with abstract (and often chance) mark-making, with an appreciation for sweet and synthetic color, and translucency.

She has participated in several group exhibitions, art auctions/fund-raisers, and since graduating has had three solo shows in California and Oregon.
