Inspirations:
I love pre-Renaissance illustrated manuscripts and Indian miniatures. I aim to emulate their clarity and directness in my work.
From:
I was born in Mexico City, grew up in Baja California Sur, moved to Texas with my family when I was 12, tried London for six months and have been living in New York for the past 14 years.
Reading:
I'm an avid reader, and our apartment is now in dire need of new bookshelves. I recently trudged through Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus. It takes some effort to get through the first third, but it picks up after that. A little. Now I'm reading some short stories by Gogol while I wait for Thomas Bernhard's autobiography to show up in the mail.
