Brooklyn-based artist Mike Estabrook is originally from the Mississippi River town of Quincy, Illinois. He received his MFA from Queens College in 2005.
His work blends fantasy, humor, mass media and politics. It often uses pre-existing media as a base and spans many disciplines, including painting, video, animation and drawing.
Estabrook has exhibited his work at a wide range of galleries, museums and non-profit spaces in New York and elsewhere, including P.P.O.W., ABC No Rio, MoMA PS1, Queens Museum of Art, the Bronx Museum, Arario Gallery and Esso Gallery. His work has been cited in many publications, including the New York Times, Time Out New York, the Brooklyn Rail, and L Magazine. In 2005-6, he participated in the Artists in the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum. In 2007-8, Estabrook was a resident in the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace program and, in 2009, in the Rotating Studio Program at the Artists Alliance.
