Dorthe Alstrup was born and grew up in Denmark. She earned a BA in advertising and editorial photography from Kent Institute of Art and Design in England and an MFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has been an Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada and participated in the Artist in the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
Dorthe was a <a href =“http://www.jenbekman.com/hsfall05/02.html”>Fall 2005 Hey, Hot Shot! winner and won First Prize in Cente’s 2008 Singular Image Awards in the color category. Dorthe has exhibited work in Australia, Denmark, Canada, England, Japan, and the U.S.
Dorthe lives in Denmark with her husband, Keith, and baby daughter, Maya Kirstine.
