Tom Slaughter was born in New York City in 1955. He is an artist whose work has been exhibited in the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. He has worked in collaboration with Durham Press for two decades, and his prints are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He has illustrated nine books for children—including Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow?, published by Blue Apple Books in March 2011—which have been translated into six languages. In addition to his work as an artist and a book illustrator, Slaughter has also designed playbills, watches, T-shirts and posters, including a widely seen poster (Yes We Can) in support of Barack Obama’s political campaign. He is the in-house art director for the New Victory Theater.
