Shawn Records holds a BA from Boise State University and an MFA from Syracuse University. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Photography and the Portland Art Museum among others, and has been shown widely, including solo exhibitions at Blue Sky Gallery and group exhibitions at MoCP, PAM, the Cooley Gallery at Reed College, and Photo Center NW, among others. His artwork has been published in Contact Sheet, Lay Flat 01: Remain in Light, Camerawork, Pause to Begin, DoubleTake, Adbusters, and others, as well as Vice magazine’s annual photo issue. His editorial work has been published in many publications, including Dwell, W, Jalous, Modern Painters, Art & Auction, and Another Man. In November 2009, Records completed a residency at Light Work in Syracuse, New York.
Based in Portland, Oregon, Records also teaches photography and serves as President of the Board of Directors of Photolucida, a non-profit organization committed to assisting emerging and mid-career photographers.
