Matthew Moore is a fourth generation farmer whose land and life is quickly being overcome by suburban sprawl. He creates large site-specific earthworks on and around his family’s land, which highlight the grounds on which the urban and rural collide and compete. Moore also works with video and installation art, addressing issues of ecological, cultural, and economical significance regarding the potential loss of the American farm.
Moore’s artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally, from the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, California, to the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2008, he was awarded a Creative Capital grant. Moore’s work was also included in the 2010 Sundance Film Festival as a part of the New Frontiers program.
Moore is published internationally. Metropolis Magazine, Dwell, and Architecture magazine included his work, as well as the Mark Magazine, Dazed and Confused and Casa Mica of Europe. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Art News and Art Lies.
