Daniel Cheek was born in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 21, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived for several years with his wife and young son. Daniel has worked with photography all of his adult life, as a photographic printer (color and black and white), as a photographer’s assistant and as rights and reproductions manager at Fraenkel Gallery. He has exhibited his work at Gregory Lind Gallery, Cara Cabezas Contemporary, Jen Bekman Gallery and the Nevada Museum of Art, among many other venues. His recent exhibitions include America Now at the Montserrat College of Art Gallery, and a traveling exhibition called Great Basin Exteriors, which was on view throughout Nevada and other parts of the Western states in 2010. He photographs with an 8″×10″ camera.
