Born in 1972, in Mobile, Alabama, Chris Ballantyne moved around the U.S. for most of his early life in a Coast Guard family. Graduating with a BA in painting and drawing from the University of South Florida, and an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, Chris has exhibited at such places as Peres Projects in Los Angeles and Berlin, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Hosfelt Gallery in San Francisco. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

where are you from?: Born in Mobile, Alabama to a military family, we moved a lot, and I spent many years living in South Florida and California.
