Helena Wurzel was born in Newton, MA, in 1980. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University in 2003 and her MFA from Boston University in 2007. She currently teaches painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. She is also the artist representative for Gamblin Oil Paint and Strathmore Paper and has given numerous lectures and demonstrations about art materials in schools all over the Northeast region. In 2010, she received a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant for painting and was chosen to be a resident at the Vermont Studio Center. She is published in New American Paintings, No. 92, the Northeast Edition catalogue. The artist lives and works in Cambridge, MA.
