EDITION INFORMATION

My newest series, Chambers, is composed of large-scale watercolor paintings on paper. Stairway and Winter Kitchen are part of this series.

Mt. Pleasant, an eighteenth century Colonial mansion in Philadelphia, is the inspiration for the rooms. It is a place that is preserved much as it was when it was built some 15 years before the American Revolutionary War. The house provides a clean and direct connection to historic Colonial Georgian classicism and symmetry.

In my paintings, veiled transparent washes contrast with super-saturated but still translucent pigment; nothing is impenetrable. A plum-violet ceiling and bright spring bud-green walls are jubilant fantasies.
