I use found words and images to create work with, hopefully, multiple layers of meaning. The picture plane, interrupted by the lettering, reveals the underlying architecture and the tension between the two. The paint-by-number genre serves as a visual vocabulary and an access point for the viewer to enter the work.
This work is a vintage paint-by-number that I have reconstituted by enlarging it, silkscreening it on canvas, mixing a fresh palette of 60 colors, blocking out the text and painting in everything but. This query, "Can You Imagine", sits right at the intersection of the profound and the mundane, where the impulse to create lives.
These prints are created using archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper with a matte finish.
Our quoted dimensions are for the size of paper containing the images, not the printed image itself. We do not alter the aspect ratio, nor do we crop or resize the artists' originals. All of our prints have a minimum border of .5 inches to allow for framing.
