My recent paintings focus on houses and commercial structures captured in a state of partial construction. These works explore the building process and, in it, find a metaphor for the activity of painting. My intention is to draw a connection between the construction of a building out of raw materials (lumber, steel, and concrete) and the construction of a picture out of raw materials (paint, canvas, wood).
In this work, Support, I have made that connection overt; the wood of the panel on which I am painting stands in for the wood framing in the image. The color scheme is dominated by the three primary colors--red, yellow, blue--the fundamental elements of painting.
These prints are created using archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper with a luster finish.
Our quoted dimensions are for the size of paper containing the images, not the printed image itself. We do not alter the aspect ratio, nor do we crop or resize the artists' originals. All of our prints have a minimum border of .5 inches to allow for framing.
