My paintings and drawings record real and imagined spaces. I reorganize the dimensions and layout of these spaces to give them a visual harmony and an emotional presence. My instinct for simplification and stylization is informed by the picture books and comics I poured over when I was a kid, and continue to draw ideas from. I like to find a sort of tipping point between the purely iconic rendering of objects found in these sorts of books and something with sense true physical substance.
