Monk
by Mark Ulriksen

"Monk" was originally painted for The San Francisco Jazz Festival's 2007 Gala dinner and art auction. The festival was celebrating Monk's work and I really enjoy painting Jazz figures in a blue setting, harkening both to the lighting one finds in once-smokey niteclubs as well as the classic look of Blue Note record covers.
