Opp, Alabama
by Scott Eiden
This image was made while waiting for AAA to come and tow the car to the garage (for the third time). For three hours, I looked at this building, walked around it, and tried to find the right spot to photograph it from; it also gave me the opportunity to consider (or just make up) the history of it. I like to imagine some guy - I'm calling him Hiram - put his life savings into this, probably living upstairs and renting the middle floor out, coming down every morning and opening up the pharmacy, greeting the familiar customers, doling out medications, balms, bandages, and sodas. I never figured out what happened to him. Eventually, I made my way to Georgia. The car never made it out of Alabama.

Opp, Alabama The 8.5"x11" editions of this image are contact c-prints on matte paper and show the black border of the 8"x10" negative. The medium and large editions of this image are also traditional c-prints on matte paper. Note they do not show the black border of the negative. Our quoted dimensions are for the size of paper containing the images, not the printed image itself. We do not alter the aspect ratio, nor do we crop or resize the artists' originals. All of our prints have a minimum border of .5 inches to allow for framing.
