The best and worst thing about living in Minnesota is the winter. It is what I miss the most, except for my friends.
I miss the clean, cold air and bright sunshine and dark, still nights. I miss snow on trees in the woods and under streetlights glowing in shades of surreal and nocturnal colors.
White Ice is a formal study of a snowball structure sculpted by artists on Plymouth Lake in the winter of 2005. I was drawn to its stark whiteness heightened by a deep blue sky on one of these sharp, clear afternoons. It is winter reduced to some of its pure, tactile, seductive, and ephemeral elements.
These prints are created using archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper with a luster finish.
A note about the size of our prints:
Our quoted dimensions are for the size of paper containing the images, not the printed image itself. We do not alter the aspect ratio, nor do we crop or resize the artists' originals. All of our prints have a minimum border of .5 inches to allow for framing.
A portion of the proceeds from the edition will benefit The Art Shanty Projects. Read Jen's notes on this edition and the art shanty project.
