Edition of 200 each $20.00, SOLD OUT
I spent a month out West last Summer, escaping New York and making new work. Most of my time was spent in Los Angeles, where this photo was taken. A lot of my photography is about portraiture, whether they're self-portraits or photos of other people, and I consider interiors like this one an extension of the idea of a portrait. I have always been interested in the places that we stay and live in, as a way to set a time and place. This was shot in the house that I was staying in; I was attracted to the light and the total bareness of the room. I like to tell stories with my photos, and that is how I relate people and place. It's the absence of people, that they made this, which gives this photo an emotional, narrative charge.
