Untitled (Geese, London)
by Dana Miller

My photographs focus on the seductive and surreal qualities of nature, especially in relation to culture. I am interested in how we relate to nature, how we try to shape it and contain it, and it's ability to grow wild despite these attempts.

I grew up in rural Oregon. My family grew our own vegetables, and my daily chores included milking the cows and gathering eggs. Living in Manhattan is the polar opposite, so for the last five years I've found myself seeking out the organic and the "natural" within the city and the suburbs. This nature often seems strangely beautiful and funny to me in it's manufactured and manicured-ness.
